LMMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Elwyn Chomba on January 14, 2020 visited the newly constructed Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital (LMUTH) to check on the on-going preparations at the soon to open Masterpiece.
She was accompanied by her Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Dr. Laston Chikoya, Ag/Director Health Services, Dr. Margret Chibowa, Ag/LMUTH Head Clinical Care, Dr. Bright Nsokolo, LMMU Registrar, Mr. Chishimba Bowa and other members of the management team.
The Chinese government has donated modern eye medical equipment to LMUTH worth K3 million. The donation was made on December 23rd, 2019.
The Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (LMUTH) has been commended for its improved health care services, especially in Maternal and Child Health.
The accolades were given by Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, Dr. Kennedy Malama during an impromptu visit to the hospital on Friday, December 20, 2019. Dr. Malama observed that the number of maternal deaths has drastically reduced at the hospital in the past three years.
Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Elwyn Chomba recently visited LMMU Kabwe Campus to officially welcome its 226 students to the newly established LMMU.
The LMMU Kabwe Campus, formerly, Chainama College of Health Sciences - Kabwe Campus, was established in 2015 and offers one programme, a diploma in Clinical Medicine for Clinical Officer general.

The University’s all-conquering athletes recently participated in the Independence Games held in Livingstone from 23rd to 26th October, 2019 where they incredibly won nine trophies in five different sporting activities.
The Independence Games were hotly contested by four other Institutions of Higher Learning namely; Kafue College of Nursing, Dovecot College of Nursing, National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) and Natural Resources Development College (NRDC).
