LMUTH Celebrates World Prematurity Day In Style.

Pomp and splendor characterized the commemoration of this year’s World Prematurity Day at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (LMUTH).

The World Prematurity Day is held annually on 17th November to raise awareness of premature birth and the sometimes devastating impact it can have on families.

This year’s World Prematurity Day was commemorated under the theme “Together for babies born too soon – Caring for the future”, highlighting that investing in the care of this vulnerable patient group is an investment in the future generation.

According to Global Sepsis Alliance, approximately 15 million babies worldwide are born preterm each year.

The commemoration of the World Premature Day is therefore, a stand to improve the lives of many children born preterm and their families.

The ceremony was graced by Dr. Sophie Msiska, Head Clinical Care Services, Lusaka Provincial Health Office, representing the Provincial Health Director and LMUTH Senior Medical Superintendent, Dr. Penias Tembo.
