Dr Lonia Mwape

Dr. Lonia Mwape is currently serving as Dean, School of Nursing Sciences, Levy Mwanawasa Medical University and Director Nursing Services, at the Ministry of Health. She has served as President for General Nursing Council of Zambia, and a Board member on several other organisations. Prior to her appointment as Director Nursing, she worked at the University of Zambia where she held various senior academic, research, and administration portfolios, including of Assistant Dean- Undergraduate, Head of Department, and Shadow Dean. She is specialized in Mental Health Nursing and is trained in Knowledge Translation, which involves packaging research evidence into user friendly formats to support health policy development and implementation. She is an active researcher and has published numerous research articles in different peer review journals.
Dr Mwape obtained her Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Master of Science (MSc), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Glasgow Caledonian University, and Leeds Beckett University respectively. She trained as a Registered Nurse at Lusaka College of Nursing and obtained her Advanced Diploma in Registered Mental Health Nurse at Chainama College of Health Sciences.
